Okay, Prime may have gotten a bit too close for comfort there, but Super Metroid remains the greatest in the franchise and while it may look like it was a close call, it really wasn't. This game is ridiculously timeless, I don't think a single year has gone by since my first playthrough of it where I haven't replayed it multiple times. I even played through a rom hack of it this year, it's called Super Metroid Subversion, it was pretty cool - I've played through some other rom hacks before, too. But of course, nothing compares to the perfection that was put in that little 3MB cartridge in 1994. I don't even know what else to say, this game's a total masterpiece from top to bottom and everyone knows it. Or at least, everyone should know it!
