Ratchet and Clank (2002)
8.8/10
Ratchet and Clank (2002) Is one of the first games that i played as a gamer following Insomniac's Spyro the dragon. I was around 6 or 7 when i had played it for the first time back then this game completely blew my mind. The Graphics at the time looked amazing, and the animations were incredibly smooth compared to the games i experienced at the time. The worlds that insomniac created really elevated my love for science fiction and my interest in Space. This game easily has the best soundtrack and atmosphere in the series. Hearing this track after landing on the creepy space station with that giant menacing sun hovering in the background is a moment that is unforgettable for me.
While the gameplay is dated compared to it's successors (there is no aim mechanic or strafing that was introduced in the second game). The simplicity has some pluses. The melee attacks with your wrench are much more viable and there is never a worry about your weapons being under-leveled.
The humor is enjoyable and coming back to play the game as an adult was a treat because i got the jokes that flew over my head as a kid. The characters are entertaining and both Ratchet and Clank show great growth though-out the story.
If you haven't played it already I would recommend it to anyone just for the amazing soundtrack and atmosphere alone.
