- Whilst conservation of ammo was a feature of the first game in the series, in this sequel you’ll have a supply that is pretty much limitless.
- Seeing as this game is a lot more action-orientated and combat heavy than its predecessor, the abundance of ammo makes sense.
- Sees a return to pre-rendered backgrounds, after the previous game had fully 3D environments.
- You switch back and forth between two playable characters as you progress through the game. One of these was the only playable character in the previous game (which was the first game in the series).
- Throughout the game, you can earn points by defeating enemies, which act as a currency to spend on weapons, upgrades, ammo, and health supplies. These points are referred to as ‘Extinction Points’.

- Avoid picking up items early on, and you may come across an additional enemy that will reward you upon defeat.
- This additional enemy is linked to the previous game in the series.
- One of the main locations you visit in this game, is also visited early on in game 23 on my list.
- You need to play through the game twice to fight the final boss and see the proper ending. Once you’ve completed the initial playthrough with one character, you unlock the ability to play through the corresponding scenario with the other playable character.

- In reference to game 24’s first clue - in this game you’ll find out how this enemy came to be.
- The main playable character in this game has a link to the additional enemy referenced in game 24.
- The events of this game take place both before and after the events of game 24 in my list.
- This game had an explosive ending that brought a definitive end to this chapter in the series’ overall story.
