Yep, it looks better than the games you mention. As you said, the lighting and shadows look awesome but also the choice of colors is superb. The whole package gives me the same magical wonderland feeling I got the first time I launched Zelda: OoT on my N64. I love when they do those dreamy particles flowing in the air, seems to be alot of that in Fable 2.
