Took me a while, but here we go!
Honorable mention: Super Meat Boy
Super Meat Boy just misses out on making it for 10 years in a row - in truth, its place on the list had been looking in danger for a while. I just don't care for this game like I used to and haven't played it in a long time, but it still deserves an honorable mention just for being my main entry point into indie games.
Honorable mention: Tetris Effect
One of only two new games I finished this year; Tetris Effect is just so fun, I love the idea of turning Tetris into a proper immersive musical experience.
Honorable mention: Night in the Woods
I've wanted to replay Night in the Woods ever since I finished, and I just haven't. There's only so much impact this story can have on me when I linger on it for this long, but I still love it and want to replay it some time to see more of the things I missed. These characters are really great.
Honorable mention: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The other new game I finished this year. My reasons for disliking it are well documented, but there were also lots of good reasons to like it, there were a lot of great moments in there and it deserves at least an honorable mention for giving me a few hours of good fun - just wish they weren't marred by... everything else.
Honorable mention: Crypt of the Necrodancer
I haven't talked about this one in a while, but man, it's such a fun game and it really defined a month of my life or so. I haven't gone back to it but I have good memories of playing this everywhere, jamming to the banger soundtrack, and all that. Love this game.
