Considering sales curve I would say that even outselling X1 isn't ensured, and that is investing 100B on the system and increasing GP on consoles to saturation point already.

I feel that in many ways now the transitioning away from dedicated hardware and the focus on software delivery across a variety of platforms that sees the gaming division becoming closer in alignment with the rest of MS seems to have gained even more momentum with the ABK buyout, and that along with MS's focus away from traditional content delivery means the imperative to grow hardware sales is less than what it once was,so rather than just looking to use those acquisitions to further push hardware, they instead are focused on using them to help form the groundwork that leads toward the day all those Xbox- Bethesda and ABK games are delivered via cloud across various platforms.

Yes. Many are seeing that MS is truly going to go full third party soon, they may have their system and give it preference, but all noteworthy titles being released multiplat, even more depending on how the GP grows or not.
