Normally, I'd agree with that.

But the problem here is they not only put out compilations of the older games. They also have netflix making animated series on the franchise. It's not like people don't know Castlevania is a game first and foremost. If they don't want to make a new game in the franchise, why let Dead Cells have an entire DLC based on the franchise along with the netflix show, KNOWING it's going to spark fans interest in a new game?

Konami didn’t put out the television series, Netflix did. Konami’s involvement seems to be little to nothing more than selling the license to adapt material from the games up to Curse of Darkness sometime before 2007.

Usually, releasing catalogue material and licensing content has more to do with not leaving easy money on the table. Companies have been doing it pretty regularly since the Wii days.
