Didn't the WoW dev team a few years back put a good bit of effort into making WoW work on controller on PC? I definitely seem to recall that. I even remember them suggesting it was groundwork for a possible console port, though then I also remember them later saying that a console port wasn't planned. But anything is possible once the Xbox acquisition closes, if they get WoW working fairly efficiently on controller on PC, why not port to console? It can only mean good things for Microsoft, more WoW subs. It could also boost Gamepass subs if they tie some kind of basic tier WoW sub into Gamepass Ultimate or at least offer a discount on a WoW sub if you are subbed to Gamepass.

WoW has native controller support already and I know people who have been raiding across all role Tank, Healer and DD for years now and perform very well at them that people wouldn't know they used a controller .

That's what I thought, they were working on it around about the 2020 Shadowlands expansion. Then in the latest expansion, Dragonflight, dataminers found Xbox and Playstation Icon files in the expansion, leading to speculation that a console port was in the works. I think there is a good chance that Xbox makes a console port happen since the key groundwork for a port, a control scheme for controller/gamepad, is already done, though rather they drop Playstation to give Xbox a big console exclusive or make it multiplat to boost subs as much as possible, is anyone's guess. But Xbox would definitely stand to benefit from ports, could drive more WoW subs, could drive more Gamepass subs if they work something like the FF14 expanded trial into Gamepass Ultimate or a newly designed basic tier WoW sub with lesser features than the full $15 a month sub.
