No huge game announced for 2024, but a lot of solid content that includes quite a few remasters/remakes. This backs up the rumor that Switch 2 is scheduled for the second half of 2024.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong looked familiar within seconds and it's indeed an updated version of the GBA game which was the best Mario vs. Donkey Kong title. F-Zero has been turned into a Battle Royal game which is a neat idea for NSO subscribers; I don't and won't pay for online, so not for me. Another Code gets a second chance as a collection; thankfully, because the first game on the DS clocked in at only ~5 hours; the second game is a lot longer.
Seeing the book with the star at the end made me happy. I instantly knew what it was. The classic Paper Mario RPG formula deserves a chance to sell on a popular console, so the people who argue against a return of the RPG gameplay based on sales will hopefully shut up. A release at the tailend of Switch's lifecycle as Nintendo's main console isn't favorable, but since the release schedule for 2024 is filled tightly, it's not like interest in Switch software will evaporate by fall.
Overall a good Direct. Nintendo showed that they'll be properly committed to Switch as it should be.
No footage of Metroid Prime 4 doesn't concern me. Given its development history, I always expected that they'll only show it once it's almost completed, so merely a few months before its release.
Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.
