I disagree. If Nintendo is continuing the Switch and hybrid format, then they should name it Switch 2. There's data that software tends to sell less when the sequel has a number. Yoshi P mentioned this as well, thinking they should just drop the numbering on the Final Fantasy title. This is obviously because the number makes it look like new players have to play the prequels to understand and enjoy fully. However, for the hardware there's data that simple numbers are indeed better. Hardware that consistently sells well and succeeds are numbered in order. Sony's Playstation is consistently successful, Apple's iPhone. On the other hand, when it has a confusing name, it tends to sell less. Xbox with those weird numbering, Nintendo every time they continue the same hardware concept. At least there's an excuse for Nintendo, because they change the concept within 2 generations. If the concept is changed, then changing the name also makes sense. But for Xbox, they should have just went with counting numbers. A normal person wouldn't know that Xbox 360 came out before Xbox One from just the name. Nintendo already made this mistake with the Wii U, an average person didn't know that it was a new console thinking it was a controller for the Wii. So for the next Switch, they should just name it "Switch 2", simple is the best for hardware.
