Jules98 said: It won't happen. Big price drops like we saw during the PS3/X360 era are a thing of the past. Hell, PS5 and Xbox Series both received a price hike recently. Besides, there is no incentive for Nintendo to drop the price: Switch sales are still strong, and the console is in the phase of its life where software sales are more important than hardware sales. I'd sooner expect the re-introduction of the Nintendo select series, offering old first party titles at a reduced price. |
I agree that software sales are more important than hardware sales, but that's why I think they'll reduce the price. Their older evergreen titles, of which they have many now (MK8, Odyssey, BOTW, Smash, etc.), will see sharp spikes in sales with new hardware purchases. It seems like it would make them more money to drop the price and increase hardware sales because of the untapped market who are waiting for a price drop. Though I expect you're right about the re-introduction of the Nintendo select series around the same time as the price drop, which would also help increase sales. I'm willing to do a signature bet with anyone that a price drop is coming this year. Or any kind of bet really, just to make things more interesting.
