I'm curious what kind of boon the Pikmin series will see now that it's getting so much love suddenly.
Hard to say this was an intentional tactic, but I was slightly disappointed when they announced the Pikmin 4 demo was a week away when I couldn't imagine why it wouldn't be ready to shadow drop, then while browsing through the series on eShop I noticed Pikmin 3 had a demo and gave that a go instead. From the get-go it's delightful atmosphere totally hooked me in and I immediately ordered the full game afterwards, even though retail copies here are $20 more expensive than Pikmin 4 coming only a month later.
More likely they were hoping fans already into the series would pick up Pikmin 1+2 while anticipating the Pikmin 4 demo. Even if they're just basic HD ports with some nice controller support thrown in, it's always great to see a full series release on one system, especially when it has such a strong cult following. Hopefully Luigi's Mansion will follow suit eventually (especially since this also has a gamecube version they can easily port in HD).
