Sony, great reputation regarding consumer electronics, expertise with regard to games, movies, music, etc. A very diverse company.

But especially a thank you to Ken Katuragi for designing the PS3 (objectively speaking, technically specs-wise by far the best console ever made), a very daring and innovative design which IMO will show its benefits for the long run for the games industry as a whole. Credit goes to Sony for digging deep into their pockets to ensure an affordable pricing for early adopters and great games released and under development.

I am fond of Nintendo as well, overall a very different approach and expertise though. But that's IMO good for the market.

I just wanted to note that a bunch of my Japanese friends have told me there's a common joke around them that Sony products have clocks in them that tell them to die right out of warranty. Just tossing it out there.

Anyway Nintendo makes my favorite console usually. I liked the original Playstation a lot, not so much PS2 and PS3 so far, I want to like I REALLY do but I'm having a tough time. Given they've produced 3 consoles and a hand held and I've only truly liked a console and the hand held I gotta go with them in second. Microsoft has produced the 360 and xbox, I only like the 360 so I'll go with Microsoft in third.
This is based on the consoles only and how many of them out of how many produced I've actually liked. Nothing to do with said companies or any experiences with them, that might not change the order though.

Only Japanese? We have that same joke around here. I'd never buy a Sony brand electronics item outside of their gaming systems.

If we're going companies... I gotta go Microsoft.

Windows is still the best operating system for gaming.

Microsoft, Nintendo in that order Sony,

Just gaming...

Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft.

Nintendo gets the nod mostly due to the SNES which to me is still unrivaled in terms of console RPG greatness.  Valkrie could change that though all by itself if it plays how I expect it too...

put it this way... i'm a sucker for SRPGS and Valkrie more or less is the exact SRPG i've always wanted to design.  Well except i would of just made it WW2 and not fantastical Europea.
