Yeah, they ignored their own rule with Zelda as well, both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom on Switch. 

They didn't make this rule though? They've done this for multiple series across the generations. The original article is only talking about Mario + Rabbids specifically. 

Kirby, Mario, Zelda, Metroid Prime, Fire Emblem, Donkey Kong, etc have all gotten sequels on the same console before.
