Felt for the first half of the movie that it was being a bit carried on its visuals, the story felt a little convoluted and bloated with all the cameos and multiverse stuff. Then Oscar Isaac comes in and from then on everything just clicks. And by "just clicks" I mean it was fucking thrilling, all the way until the "end"... which uhh, I get that this is a 2-part thing, but man, would it hurt to have even just the slightest bit of resolution? Oh well at least they made the cliffhanger hype enough.
Visuals were out of this world, like seriously unbelievable, they made the first movie (and every other animated movie that took inspiration from it) look tame. This shit went wild man, they could've given the script to a 4-year-old and it'd still be fire because of how it looks. But yeah even if the script had its issues, it ultimately was a good story with good characters. I loved Miles already but now I love him more.
All that said I'm not 100% sure yet I find it better than the first. I think so? But this feels like one of those sequels that really amplify the original, all aspects of it, so everything the first was great at (animation, characters, soundtrack, making a multiverse story that doesn't feel like bullshit) is even better here, but whatever minor criticisms I had of the first movie (mainly the pacing) were made more prominent too.
Overall really fantastic and a strong contender for best ever Marvel movie not called Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm definitely seeing it again especially because of how overwhelming it was, feels like you can only barely begin to understand the movie after a single viewing.
Also apparently they're patching the audio mix? lol
