CrazzyMan said: Console life = weeks from first LAUNCH at all, NOT in every region. And 16 weeks don`t have that big effect, for a 2001 vs 2008 years comparison. :) p.s. Wii is supply constrained in USA for last 90weeks, by your logic, we can`t compare Wii sales in USA since launch with any other console, which weren`t supply constrained? What is your point then? =)) |
That is the big failure with this thread, no the console life is not the same. It is difficult to make a comparison fair when the release dates are so different across regions. but it would be more fair to do this seperate by region, so comparing 2001 sales of PS2 to 2007 sales of PS3 in America and Japan, and then using 2008 for PS3 in Europe (and comparing to 2001 PS2 in Europe)
This would give the same bias in favour of the PS3 for Europe (PS2 low supply in 2001) but would alleviate some of the PS3 bias for the other 2 regions. (probably even PS2 biased in Japan... as by 2001 most of PS2 supply was probably ok there)
You can compare any console with any other if you like, but you need to get your facts straight before you use that comparison to say one thing is better than another.
