Out of curiosity, what is everyone hoping to see at the Xbox Showcase that would make you personally feel like the showcase is a success? Like once it’s over, you’re feeling good about Xbox’s future.

As a bonus, what do you specifically want to see during the Starfield Direct that will make you stoked for Starfield’s release?

Hmmm, I'm not sure if there is any single thing. I've been feeling increasingly let down by Xbox over the past couple of years honestly, at this point I feel like they need to do alot to convince me that Xbox is going to start going in the right direction.

Some of the things I want to see:

-Acknowledgement that Xbox's hardware manufacturing capabilities have been poor and assurance that Xbox shipments are going to pick up massively soon. I want to hear them say that they are going to be making alot more X units moving forward, including Starfield bundles, and I also need to see the first price cut for Series S announced, as it's sales just aren't going to pick up at $300.

-Assurance that the Japan/Asia situation is going to improve, and I don't mean a slow trickle, I want to see big progress. I need to see multiple late JP/Asia ports I have been waiting for on Xbox like Genshin Impact/Honkai Star Rail from Mihoyo, FF7R, Trials of Mana Remake, Sakura Wars, and more. I want to see a big JP 2nd party exclusive announced, and/or a JP studio acquisition announced. I want to see quite a few JP games on the Gamepass roadmap for the year that they show.

-Good graphics on multiple first party games. For basically an entire decade Xbox has been content to allow Sony to hold the first party graphics crown, with the only real exceptions being Gears and the Forza vs GT graphics battle that Forza consistently wins. Other Sony exclusives like TLOU 2 and Horizon and God of War have largely mopped the floor with similar Xbox exclusives for the last decade. Xbox Series X is the most powerful console this gen, I want to see that power properly taken advantage of by their 1st party.

-I need to see a significant improvement for Gamepass overall if I'm going to stay subbed permanently instead of only subbing on months where a game drops that I want to play. The downgrade on Gamepass has been very noticeable over the last year or so. We are getting AAA additions less and less often, JP additions less and less, the total number of games added per month has shrunk from around 16-20 down to around 10-12 for most of this year, yet there was no noticeable increase in quality alongside the decrease in quantity. Feels like Sony's PS+ mid tier has been getting stronger and stronger while Gamepass has felt weaker and weaker for my gaming tastes.

-Starfield's showing needs to impress. While there has been alot of do-or-die hyperbole around Starfield by the gaming press and much of the gaming public ever since Redfall flopped, there is some merit to that argument that Starfield needs to be amazing. Xbox needs a massive hit right now, their image needs it, their ability to sell hardware needs it, and we fans need to see an Xbox win badly, just to keep our morale up. To answer your Starfield question, we need to see some fun gameplay footage, but also we need to see that some of Digital Foundry's graphical concerns from last E3 have been improved, and that there is a 60 fps mode available on console, anything less will be considered a huge fail by many in the wake of Redfall's lackluster graphics and framerate on release.

-Xbox's 1st and 2nd party in general needs to impress. Avowed, Fable, Hellblade 2, Outer Worlds 2, Perfect Dark, Contraband, these are all games that need to be shown on the conference and need to impress people. Xbox needs hype for their upcoming lineup after Starfield, people need to be excited for games that will be releasing over the next 2.5 years or so.
