Your maybe right, I'm not sure how this all works. For me it remains an indicator. I just find it weird to see FF16 so low compared to FF15 and FF7R. The pre order point dif is huge. |
FF15 was on the healthier PS4 and already many years ago. It sold 716k at launch according to Famitsu and 690k according to Media Create, less than half of the 1.5mil launch of FF13. FF15 never managed to sell as much as FF13 sold at launch, not even with digital. It had a 90% drop in it's second week.
FF7R is a remake of the legendary FF7 and yet it only sold 702k at launch according to Famitsu but definitely had a higher digital share than FF15 because of the lockdowns that had just started. It got a big boost in preorders as soon as said lockdowns started shortly before it's launch, otherwise, despite being a remake of the most successful FF game it would have had an even smaller launch. It also had a 90% drop in it's second week.
FF16 might have a launch of again half the size of the previous game. 350k would be by far the biggest launch of a PS5 game so far and yet disastrous for the Final Fantasy franchise.
