Yes we do.

More competition is good.

I also think gaming helps MS's image. It has a sexier image than their core business and makes them a cooler more attractive company. It also gives them a reason ot hold onto entertainment IPs.

Its not MS's problem to keep Sony in check. If you cant trust Sony than don't support them. Simple.

There’s absolutely no guarantee that Sony and Nintendo would allow Game Pass on their consoles just because Microsoft stops producing consoles. In fact I’d say it’s still unlikely. And Microsoft would then be at their mercy which is far from an ideal situation.

I do think you are right about Microsoft being done with losing money subsidizing console hardware. But that just means the hardware will be more expensive, not that they will stop producing consoles. There’s no reason to. They have already ”raised” the price by making the Series X almost exclusively available in Forza bundles. They don’t need to outsell Sony to still have a meaningful console presence.

Incorrect thinking. GP as it is no. A modified GP supporting only Xbox 1st party titles? Possibly. If not MS will still pursue GP via PC and Mobile etc. They can also sell their games on PS separately from GP as a source of income.

We need it to put Sony in check

Otherwise, Xbox is kinda of a useless machine unless you really love Microsoft shooters

Thats not MS's problem.

Sure it would be "great".

Say hello to $700 PS6 and $90 games. What's to stop Sony from charging what ever they want or doing what ever they want in that scenario?

If Nintendo was making a traditional "big box" home console the answer would be different, but since they don't, Sony would basically be left alone with that market to itself and what's really the motivation for them to price things fairly?

PC GPUs cost $700-$1000 all by themselves, so that's not going to be a threat to them.

Again, thats not MS's problem.

100% correct. There's no way either Sony or Nintendo would allow a service on their platforms that would drastically undercut their software ecosystems.

Then they won't put GP on their consoles and just sell software separately or create a modified GP library that includes only Xbox titles, just like how EA Play works.

Xbox finally has the studios it needed all along.
Why should they stop now? when their so close to being able to turn things around? It feels a little too early to give up, after the efforts they put in.

Who said they are stopping? They have studios to make software, they don't need dedicated hardware to sell it.

Competition is a key driver of innovation and can help keep prices in check. It also provides consumers with a range of choices. I doubt the PS5 would have achieved its current level of quality if Xbox had completely dropped out of the hardware business during the previous generation.

Again, not MS's problem.

It's competition, we need Xbox.

Again, not MS's problem.

No. Less options and higher prices are better.

Again, not MS's problem.

We dont need this xbox , we need xbox era xbox and 360 era xbox , not this shit they been pulling lately.

Nothing is going to change. Least selling consoles always struggle to stay competitive. Did you forgot what happened to Sega? To stay in the console hardware business they need to be selling similar to Nintendo and PS and the market is too small for 3 to be selling that well.

IMHO,
We need Xbox to put Playstation in check.
MS needs Xbox for their "cloud gaming future".

MS Azure is one of the 3 biggest and most advanced cloud providers in the world, at the same time, they are the only tech giant with a strong line of first party of video game Studios and IPs.
Xbox is here to stay, It's a gigantic advantage of MS in the cloud game market, but... This is not enough.

Xbox needs to beat Playstation, or at least become Playstation equal, not because of Sony, but because of the possibility of another big tech buying/joining forces with Playstation/Nintendo.
Just think about this possibility... Cloud gaming becomes the norm, Xbox becomes king because of Azure, while Playstation/Nintendo lags behind. Amazon or Google steps in, makes a irresistible offer and now Playstation/Nintendo have a big tech on their corner. Xbox money and Azure advantage are now gone. All that matter now is the content. Is Xbox better than Playstation/Nintendo at making games or capturing public mindshare? No? Yup, forever number 3 then.
Xbox can't become 3° party under Sony. They need to do better and Win!

Not MS's problem to keep PS in check.

In a vaccuum? No.  They never filled SEGA's shoes in great IP's and innovation even tho they borrowed directly from them with the controller with the OG Xbox. That said no one else can keep Sony on their toes in the power race with consoles.  I'd been happy if it was just SEGA,Nintendo and Neo Geo still making consoles.

Again, it's not MS's problem to keep Sony in check.

I took my time reading all these replies, it comes to no Suprise that people only want Xbox to exist to keep Sony in Check... Reality, it's not MS's problem or responsibility to do so. They are not a charity and are not willing to lose Billions on hardware just for this. It's not justifiable to any business. I mentioned this point in my main post (If those bothered actually reading it). If you cannot trust a company, you support, then don't support them. It's that simple.

If you want a brand to be around and stay relevant than you need to support it. The hypocritical statements coming from many of you is insane. You don't want to support Xbox, you don't care how successful they are, you just want to see them keep a company that apparently you don't trust in check? That is some mental gymnastics and a mentality I cannot understand exists.

If you know your wife or husband will cheat on you the moment you lower your guard, then sorry to say, you are in a unhealthy relationship and probably not best waiting around for it to happen.
