I was just responding to the idea that we would need to have to speculate the right marketing strategy right now before we even have a project to market. Zelda has many different tones, looks, and styles so the marketing would have to be reflective of that. I still believe, though, that Nintendo will stay closer to the houses of Mario and Kong before they head to Hyrule, Zebes, or Lylat. I personally wouldn’t expect a Zelda movie for 7-10 years, but I’d be happy to be wrong (if it were done as well as the Mario Movie). |
I think Zelda could be sooner than that.
For one there is already a lot of rumors spreading that Universal has just closed down their Poseidon's Adventure area in Florida and are going to re-theme it as a Zelda area (which is a tell tale sign that a movie is probably not far off). Those rumors had been out there for a while and guess what? Universal just after the Mario movie opened announced that Poseidon's Adventure is now closing permanently.
Secondly I think Mr. Miyamoto will see it as his responsibility now to get Zelda done correctly. He's almost 70 now, I don't think he wants to wait 10 years. He set the standard for Mario movies, and I think he sees it not only as a job but closer to a *duty* to Nintendo now to make sure that Zelda is done correctly too as it is in many ways Nintendo's "next big" internal IP after Mario. It's going to be his job to make sure that other Nintendo IP are successful movies.
