Darashiva said: The reaction to the moment in the Horizon DLC was as childish as it was unsurprising. It's honestly baffling how the existence of a group of people can make some people act like entitled idiots when a story even hints that one of the characters isn't straight. Utter stupidity. |
You know what sucks? If we (queer) Folks started acting the exact same way when a straight person is involved in a piece of media the same way they do whenever a queer person is represented, we'd just make matters worse. because then they'd feel like they were justified in it, acting like our very existence is somehow propaganda, and to them that'd just prove we were trying to force everyone to be gay or that we're acting like being straight is bad.
And sadly, they're still the majority.
To be clear, being straight is fine. only the most radical/outlandish queers actively have a problem with straight people. Most of us are just sick of this idea that straight is normal and anything else is abnormal and worthy of scorn, leading us to deal with this shit. where it's okay to treat us all as groomers because ...
You know what? fuck it. It's just so exhausting constantly having to go in circles defending our very existence. Believe it or not, MOST people are pro-queer. MOST people truly believe that you can and should do whatever works for you and leave it at that. it's just the very loud, very ignorant, very regressive, terrible people making it seem like it's more of an issue than it is. They know their views are on the way out so wanna cause as much of a stir as they can before their values are rightly snuffed out.
