Strong week for Switch hardware as the system enters its 7th year.
In fact, it's about the same as it was for the same week in 2019.

It’s pretty remarkable considering how old the Switch is. Not sure if we’ll ever see a console do this well this late in their life cycle in Japan for some time. Switch 2 has a good chance if it hits the right notes like the OG Switch has hit. And that’s probably the only console with such potential in Japan, especially if it’s as powerful as rumored. The potential challenge for Switch 2 (or whatever it’ll be called) is the potential third party support. Will third parties do “test” games again like they did with the OG Switch because they were unsure of its success? Or will we see big games guns blazing like KH3, FFXV, Street Fighter VI, modern RE, Elden Ring, MHW2, etc.? Because otherwise, the indie-AA Japanese titles are almost guaranteed on the successor considering how well they’ve performed overall on the OG Switch in Japan even compared to the PS4.

Apparently Famitsu thinks switch is ~500k ahead of what Media Create thinks, so that could be a factor for the high sales.
