I think there were so many titles the first year or so because many were pulled from being Gamecube games to being Wii games, which allowed them to come out very quickly. Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario, and Donkey Kong Barrel Blast are confirmed to be like this, and my guess is so were Fire Emblem and Battalian Wars 2.
