Supporting it until Tatanka releases and then dropping Infinite support makes sense. Schreier hinted that Tatanka has expanded and is no longer just the battle royale mode, but a full standalone Halo multiplayer experience that also includes other modes, presumably including traditional Halo Arena and BTB modes and maps. Reads like Tatanka is a full on-replacement for Infinite now, which will make it's development time longer, but will also make it a much better experience for Halo fans skeptical of Battle Royale, such as myself.
Makes sense to support Infinite for the next year or two, however long it takes to finish Tatanka on Unreal 5, getting Infinite into the state it needs to be in with more maps, modes, vehicles, weapons, and hopefully a proper microtransaction economy, and then drop Infinite's support to concentrate on Tatanka and the next 343 developed singleplayer+multiplayer game (or just singleplayer as the case may be if Tatanka is planned to be the only MP Halo Product for years to come).
I just hope they get a 2nd party singleplayer spinoff in development in the meantime, the singleplayer fans need something alot sooner than 343 will be able to deliver in the wake of the restructuring and singleplayer layoffs. Will take 343 at least a year to staff back up a AAA singleplayer team, so we're looking at early next-gen before a 343 developed singleplayer project could drop. Best hope of anything singleplayer this gen is for them to immediately get a singleplayer spinoff such as an Arbiter game or an ODST sequel (with the now Spartan 4 Alpha-Nine team) in development at a 2nd party partner studio. Or maybe even a Halo Mass Effect like RPG like many of us have dreamed of.
