Yeah his excuse about how people lie on resumes is total crap. Pretty sure if you were found to have lied on your resume after you accepted the offer you would quickly be fired. 

If you lied on a resume for a government job, the government could prosecute you for perjury. That fact is made clear on any job application for a federal government job, even for something like mail carrier.
