Questions for those who play Xbox IP on PC.

  1. Do you play Xbox IP through Windows Store or Steam and if so, why?
  2. How'd you rate Xbox's efforts on Xbox App/Windows Store specifically and how can they improve?
  3. How do you think Xbox will improve from 7th or do you think it's futile and they need to get Game Pass on Steam?

1. I prefer Steam because I like to have my entire PC collection that I mainly play on under one library platform for easy access, to track my game log, steam achievements, steam cards. Of course the ability to do mods easily is great but the entire interface is much better experience for me compared to the Windows Store or Xbox App. Also they have support forums and the guides section is a HUGE help when troubleshooting or trying to make a change, I've also used the guides section to get achievements or to set up builds for my RPGs like in FFV (they have a good class/job guide on Steam).

Although I do have some games on the Windows Store that I bought because they were going to be delisted (Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Motorsport 7) so its still possible for me to play the games on the Windows store.

Its a good thing I bought them because I can instead play them on my Xbox Series S instead now. I play games at 1080p/60 FPS so higher resolution doesnt matter to me and besides due to my limited SSD size of my current rig (which already has PC games installed) - I can just play them on my Series S.

2. Its been improved at least from what I heard, they should keep pushing it as a good alternative, keep up with its own competitive pricing and sales too though the factor of being able to play anywhere (Xbox Series and PC) is a great initiative. I'm assuming if I buy some games for my Xbox Series S, they are accessible through the Windows Store/Xbox App on PC - and if so my screenshot above is a bit outdated/missing games then.

Mid post Edit for this: So installed the Xbox app on my general PC to take a look at what Xbox Play Anywhere games I have and its actually more than I had for sure looking above.

One thing I would love is to see if they can give me a option to change the game list appearance, the current one is...a bit bloated for my taste, reminds me of EGS and EA Origin's interface which I really dont like either....along with that there's multiple entries for games that should honestly be counted as 1 for the Xbox app unless there's a setting to fix that lol.

Steam's is the ideal UI and it looks like Ubisoft agreed with that so they went the Steam route where they give you a option to modify the size and UI for the list of games in your library.

Xbox App on PC

The EA App on PC

EGS App

Ubisoft Connect

Steam

3. Whats happening on the 7th? As for Gamepass, I dont mind it being on Steam, I've used Gamepass through the Xbox app and the only Major complaint I had was when you uninstall the game from the Xbox App, it doesnt remove the game files from your installed Drive, you have to manually go and delete it, I think they fixed that issue since I experienced that issue two years ago.

I dont sub to Gamepass or any other gaming service so I dont really have an opinion on whether or not MS should release Game Pass on Steam.

I know EA has brought their service but I have never used it nor do I have any reason to use it.
