Looking at my list so far, you might think I haven't played a video game in 25 years, lol. I promise games from this century are coming soon! Here's my brief look at my first few games:

50 - Castlevania II: Simon's Quest - 1988 - People love to hate this game, but this to me started my initial love for metroidvania games (along with the original Metroid). My favorite Castlevania on NES, a big reason I loved it so much was because I had the issue of Nintendo Power that featured this game. Thus I knew a lot of the secrets that are quite obscure to those who play the game without it. Also, one of the best soundtracks on NES.

49 - Warlords - 1980 - My first console was an Atari 2600, and I have fond memories of quite a few games from that console. The only one to crack my top 50 was Warlords, a 4-player game with each player protecting their castle, one in each corner. Each castle was protected by a wall and the player piece that would slide around the outside of the wall. Basically, it was like 4-player Breakout.

48 - Star Wars: X-Wing - 1993 - I always loved Star Wars, so a few games from that license appear on my list. First up is X-Wing, a PC flight-sim where you performed missions for the rebellion. Occasionally janky, but I loved the various ship types that were true to the source material and the use of the original soundtrack.

47 - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - 1997 - I never had a Playstation, but I first saw this game and briefly played it on that console. But most of my time with it was actually on an Android device (not the greatest way to play, I know). Not much else to say about this game that hasn't been said before, a great classic metroidvania title.

46 - GoldenEye 007 - 1997 - I also never had an N64, but a good friend did, and a bunch of friends spent many evenings/nights playing this in 4-player mode. Obviously hasn't aged well, but still some of the most fun I've had with a game.

45 - Baseball Stars - 1989 - A big part of my early gaming was sports games, so here's the first to make my list. Baseball games were plentiful on NES but what made this stand out to me was that it had a pseudo franchise mode, where you would pay players, sign and trade new ones, and move your team up to higher leagues.

44 - The Secret of Monkey Island - 1990 - When I was younger I loved PC adventure games, mostly ones by Sierra On-Line (King's/Space/Police Quest, etc). It wasn't until I got a bit older that I discovered Lucasfilm/LucasArts adventure games and my favorite of those is Monkey Island. Great humor, great music, great story.
