Yep. Miyamoto has said several times that he wants to entertain and surprise people when they play his games. You can't really surprise people if you give them exactly what they've told you they want. Sophistry aside, i.e., it would be surprising for Nintendo to cave into stagnation and mediocrity, Miyamoto's innovations have made for some interesting games and refreshing twists in old franchises.
