Peak year for the PS2 was fiscal year ending March 2003 with 22.52 million units shipped. The following year was at 20.10 million units, the only other time it crossed 20 million.
The PS4's best year was the 2016 fiscal year with 20.0 million units shipped.
30 million for PS5 in a fiscal year would be by far the best year ever for a PlayStation console and put it on par with the best fiscal year shipment figures ever for a gaming platform. The DS had 2 fiscal years above 30 million. 30.31 million for the 2008 fiscal year and 31.18 million for the 2009 fiscal year.
