Nah, you have to see what Nintendo is doing with TotK first. And that is being a secret. You can't take the 3 trailers at face when its obvious (at least to me), they are hiding the game and what is really is about. What they shown off is absolutely nothing. Wait until they ramp it up come 2023.

That said, botw even more so was bought by the earliest adapters. Also I'm predicting ToTK to do near 5mil lifetime in japan

Well you are predicting 5m in Japan, and you've seen very little as well.

However, with BotW they weren't hiding anything.  They showed hours of gameplay footage at E3 2016.  Also, this game's title is not remotely linked to BotW's title.  A casual player would not know this is a sequel to BotW.

I have to disagree with you here because BotW and TotK are different cases. Former is coming from a desperate position, whereas the latter isn't. TotK has more time and composure to take it slow, whereas BotW was needed to please investors, creating hype for promising hardware launch, etc. BotW is a complete new entry for Zelda, TotK is a sequel to BotW. We didn't know anything about BotW whereas we know a general gist of things for TotK. Plus like u said, we've seen lots more for BotW at this stage, whereas we've seen particularly nothing for TotK other than some short teasers. My expectations aren't too high yet from those teasers, but you can't really judge without seeing a proper trailer or playing the actual game. Remember the 2017 BotW trailer that they uploaded 2 months before the release was what sparked a lot of hype. Right now we only have information close to what we got from the 2014 BotW trailer for TotK.

However, I don't think TotK is selling 5 million in Japan. I could be wrong as BotW has been awarded the best game in history in Japan, but Zelda is a pretty niche title there. It's hard to believe it selling more than Pokemon for example.
