Its depends on the game. For examle old PS1 era games commonly had this programming setting to use "all available CPU power" etc.
When those games are run on a modern system, the FPS goes through the roof and the game operates at like 500x the original speed because using the full CPU power on a modern system is much higher than what it was back in those days.

Not specialist, but this type of problem seems like the type of stuff that the emulator itself can cover or small patch on code (so yes not a just dump all 1000 titles but run small patches for them).

Anyway I don't mind a WiiU title being remastered for Switch, and customers will decide if they find value in it.
