If Splatoon 3 moved this much hardware despite Splatoon 2 being on the hardware and so many feeling they were too similar, then Scarlet/Violet as the first open world Pokemon game should see the Switch selling out yet again.

I was trying to tell you before, nsw is different from other consoles because of how many unique owners there are and how many would upgrade. Nsw OG is 18mil and lite that imo people bought and then upgraded to the OG nsw is at 5mil. Splatoon 2 userbase is all on the OG and pokemon to an extent. But at least this will be a huge upgrade with the LE coming out and pokemon first oled.

TotK will be the same next year too. Sequels will help out the original 10mil or so owners of 2017-2019 to upgrade. So far Oled is outpacing Lite now aligned.

I mostly agree with you, because Splatoon 3 is seen as an improvement over Splatoon 2.  Scarlet/Violet will also very likely be seen as an improvement over Sw/Sh and will stimulate a lot of Switch hardware sales.

However, I don't think TotK will have the same story.  BotW is already an amazing game, and TotK looks like a downgrade based on what we've seen so far.  I think it will likely do well on the opening week, but over the long haul it will have poor legs and the legs of BotW will keep going.
