It was already unlikely I get a PS5 but now I'm even less likely to get one. I wonder what level of impact this will have on demand in the short term. In the long term it won't be that much since they'll just reverse this increase if the impact is higher than they would like.

I haven't seen a PS5 sold at retail price for like well over a year now. I'm not sure how much higher they will go above the already increased price (before the price increase that is), but I think demand is strong enough.

But, Sony is definitely going to have to make a case for it in the short term. I don't think they can ride out not dropping 1st party game details as infrequently as they have been doing.

So, I do expect a showcase in September to really hammer home how much value there is in getting a Ps5. But we'll see: I don't expect demand to dry up and I think they'll be fine.

I agree that they'll be fine. For 2023 I wonder how much this will reduce its sales potential for that year, like if it'll reduce sales by just a couple or few hundred thousand or if it'll be over a million but either way the harm won't be significant.
