This seems a very likely scenario. Hope you can get your PS5 soon.

I know a friend that is holding the purchase of the games until he can afford to buy a PS5 (it is possible to buy a PS5 for MSRP in Brazil within a month if you really look or have the tracking groups). But he wants to save the money before.

Until that time comes I'll continue to purchase some PS4 games, but not AAA cross gen titles. Those will clearly be a considerably better proper experience on PS5, and I don't replay many story driven games unless they are really something special. I typically don't get a new console until the first or second iteration is out, so it's not like I expected to have one way sooner, but everything has just lined up that I'd have one by now if I could more easily grab one. Maybe Sony can slowly stock up a decent size stash by the holidays. That'd be nice.

Hopefully this wasn't what Sony meant back then by Greatness Awaits.

Well, they still plan to ship 18M this year, and they haven't shipped that much yet, so I believe the holidays will have a lot more inventory and perhaps scalpers won't be able to get in the way.
