On paper that sounds like an ideal way to go about things. Sadly, many individuals are undeserving of respect (in any way) because they are awful individuals through and through. As someone else stated, respect is a two-way street and is earned. I'm not going to respect your religion if you treat people like shit or try to force your religion on others.
