Abusive work culture is bad, no doubt about it, but why do we expect the gaming businesses to be any different from other industries? Every industry has abuse. The abuse and toxicity is what drove me out of teaching, I experienced some terrible stuff in a sales job I was in after, and the industry I'm in now (software developer, not gaming) I have encountered some cringe things in too. You want to talk about crunch? Talk to a special education teacher in October/November when IEPs/Re-Evals have to be completed by December 1st or the school losses money for the next year. The unpaid overtime is insane! So why is it such a big deal it is happening in the gaming industry?

If people were universally outraged about all industries that would be one thing, but people treat this like it's unique to Big Tech or game development specifically.
