I'm thinking that intelligence guy rumored to take over from Putin has probably already been removed from his position by Putin, even if it was false I doubt he wants to take any chances. I can't imagine what Putin will do to him and his loved ones.
This is one example of a free press getting in the way. If that was true, then our best shot at peace may have just gone down the toilet because the press wanted clicks and they outed a potential coup d'etat that could have made Russia return to at least somewhat more sanity. Not that they will, they could be worse under this other guy for all I know, but if the goal is to restore trade with the West then they will have to retreat from Ukraine.
