Every single person has bias, favoring some things over others. And limiting the current focus on Ukraine to simply race is absurd. The west has many things more in common with Ukraine than Yemen. History, religion, system of government, various aspects of culture (clothing, music, sports), etc. Ukraine is also a European country, which hasn't had war on its soil much in the past half century, whereas the Middle Eastern nations have basically just been a land of ceaseless wars for our entire lives.
All persecution, genocide, and wars are things we should strive to stop, but of course some hit closer to home than others. I'd imagine many in the Middle East aren't terribly concerned or empathetic towards the Ukrainians either. We all have bias.
