Countries like Russia, North Korea, Iran, and now China have had their populations brainwashed for decades. Brainwashed people do things we can't understand. The Russian mom who refused to believe what her own daughter was describing in Ukraine, that she witnessed with her own eyes, is a sample that I'm sure could be applied to many Russians. If you believe the state over your own adult kids, that's a level of brainwashing we can't even fathom in free-thinking nations.
