I was talking sales wise. Revenue wise, that's a lot more complicated. Have to add in dlc and bundles. I do take issue with the fact that you are comparing revenue numbers of a franchise with 10 games with single games. It's also a bit dubious to compare linkedin numbers that are in no way official. |
So let me ask you, because Horizon ZD, GoT, GoW sold better numbers on the PS4 compared to Mario 3D World on the WiiU, does that make those IPs bigger? Why does this only apply to Halo? Is it because they had one poor selling game by its standards make it a smaller IP?
I am taking an issue with your logic. I am giving you multiple examples on why Halo is a much bigger IP than those Sony IPs mentioned. I brought up sales on a even platform like Steam, i brought up revenue gains etc which all favor Halo, and you are still claiming these Sony IPs are bigger because they sold more copies on the PS4 compared to Halo selling on the X1, a platform with less than half the install base.
Feel free to look up any website of Halos revenue, it wont change the the point. I linked the first one i found. Halo is in another league and is considered one of the biggest franchises in the gaming industry hence the term "Stars Wars of gaming".
The only accurate way to compare these IPs by pure sales with your logic is to either put Halo on PS or those Sony IPs on Xbox where both games have the same install base. You are basically using Sony's advantage of console sales to boost Sony IPs size because they sold more, but yet you still claim Mario as a bigger IP even though Mario 3D World sold less than all Sony IPs on PS4. IPs can have a bad outing, doesn't make them smaller. Mario 3D World and Halo 5 aren't the greatest releases in their series yet people compare them to Sonys very best efforts.
