Yeah, that arbitrary 250 GB limit is annoying. Quote from my struggle of setting up my PS5 last summer: "Connecting external mass storage for (a lot of) PS4 games: after several failures (some USB HDDs weren’t detected, others were denied as incompatible), the 2 TB HDD of my PS4 Pro was accepted. Damn it, Sony! Why do PlayStations have to be so choosy when it comes to extended storage? My PS4 Pro already denied a 240 GB SSD due to an arbitrary minimum of 250 GB. All these USB devices work fine with my Xboxes, they support even several mass storages at the same time." |
Yeah... If Sony is telling us a 24% increase over the default of 500 GB is not enough to work with, what does that say about 500 GB? That it's barely enough to work with but not really good at all? Just for the record, I think 500 GB is... decent, but in my view, consistency demands that either 120 GB is enough (if you assume 500 GB to be decent) or that 500 GB is fairly poor (if you assume that 120 GB is really bad).
