Masayuki Uemura, Creator of The NES and SNES, Has Passed Way

Super Nintendo was the first system I regularly came into contact with too.

I believe in modern terms Uemura could be called lead architect of NES and SNES in the same way Mark Cerny is lead architect of PS4 and PS5.

He also led Nintendo’s R&D 2.  Everyone in charge of an R&D team at that time did great things with their team.

Genyo Takeda is the last of the R&D general managers still alive from that era. His department was the smallest R&D 3.

R&D 3 worked on things including NES battery back up saves, N64 analog stick, and a few video games as well.  He was very influential on the design philosophy behind the Wii.

Sad news to lose someone who did so much in that era.
He did an interview a couple of years ago that was very lovely.

He helped me get into gaming. The Super NES is the first system I ever played.
