• One of the main character's has a slightly different name in this game than in most of that character's later appearances.
• Although it doesn't seem like it, you don't actually meet the game's main villain until fairly late in the game.
• Every prior encounter with the villain is just a piece of another being masquerading as the villain.
• That other being crashed on the planet a long time ago and eventually caused an entire race of people to almost go extinct.
• To this day the most successful game in its series, as well as in the genre as a whole.

Oh god it's FF7. I thought it sounded familiar but couldn't put my finger on it until now.
