Turn based combat with motion controls? Good luck with that. Going to make it mandatory GC/Classic controller to solve that? Then what is the point?
Going to change the combat system while your at it so it suits motion controls? Good luck with the huge backlash from the extremely loyal FF VI fanbase.
Touch controls are one thing, motion controls IMO is just stupid for a turn based system, let alone one that uses the ATB.
PS3, 360 and DS are my choices.
We had this discussion like a week or two ago and I am pretty sure it came to an agreement that changing the battle system to suit motion controls would just be a disaster. Point and click for attack/magic/defend/etc... with ATB you will get hit more times that you can point and click.
This type of RPG just wouldn't work IMO without changing the combat system.

Like I said in the other thread, why would it need to use motion controls? The wii has buttons and a control stick. I'm sure the motion controls could be used for non-combat situations.
|
Then what is the point of a game on the Wii it is does not utilize what the system is about?
A game like FFVI deserves the best treatment it can get.
|
Well it most likely would go to the wii if the ds was discounted for the best sales, and low producting costs, but I already mentioned motion controls could be utilized in non-combat situations.

I may just have a different preference but IMO menu controls are not worth a remake on the Wii. From the sound of it, it would be the same as putting it on the PS2, minus the possible... menu pointing? Pointing and clicking on a space on the worldmap and watch your character walk in that direction to stop at that spot? Easier to just use the analog stick/D-pad.
As a hardcore FFVI fanboy I would think many of the FFVI fanbase who grew up with the game as I did would agree on this.

Actually I grew up with the gameas well, and I'm fine with a wii remake. Not to mention that the wii is considerabely more powerful than the ps2 many times over(I would say the difference is the same as the difference between the wii and hd consoles), and allows for motion controls in non-combat situations like I said. Also as long as the game has an upgrade, does it matter what console it goes to? Ds,Wii,Ps3,360,Psp. Anyway the game would most likely be remade for the ds, but if it did go to a home console I could see the wii as an option because of sales, and low developement cost. Not to mention that square said they are spreading their resources on all consoles, and we haven't seen too much for the wii.

What non combat situation would make it worth a remake on the Wii? You haven't mentioned any yet.
Where it is remade does make a difference. You don't want to see a game that was basically perfect to be changed. Most of us would accept just a graphical update. FFIV is remade from the ground up but will still play just as the original did.
I would prefer DS over all other options. That way we still get our quick easy turn based controls and deformed characters.

Actually I agree, handhelds are better suited for remakes of 2d games, and if the game was full 3d it would play too differently and people could dislike it too much. As for the non combat controls, I wouldn't know unless I saw the game in 3d. There coulld be many things such as flying airships, riding chocobos, puzzle aspects etc. The game would change alot though, and might not be what fans would expect.
