The Gamecube only sold 21.74m Units yet Nintendo still made a small profit, now compare that to the PS3 and 360, which actually lost Sony and Microsoft Billions yet both sold 4x the Gamecube. I was also referring to why general gamers should care about it since it impacts the games they'll get to play depending on their platform choice but it's massively important for the business side as well. It being possible to loss money on a console that sells well due to screwing up doesn't change that since Nintendo's profits wouldn't be nearly as strong right now if the Switch was only selling half as well as it is. If it was another Wii U level flop Nintendo would likely be in a real bad position currently.
