Yes more consoles can sell more software, but to pretend there is any linearity on it, as you did on discussions of gear and halo last gen, when comparing with the likes of Uncharted, TLOU and other Sony titles crossing 10 and even 15M sold with things like MS titles were selling less than half because the userbase was half. I honestly believe that if the WiiU sales were 90m like the Switch, i would say MK8 would have more than doubled its sale. Its a case by case basis, depending on the game, different games have different potential. This is why MS and Sony are hitting up the PC market lately because they want to increase there game sales, not all Xbox and Sony customers buy 1st party games, in fact many don't, in Nintendo's case, majority do.

Certainly it would be possible to double sales, we can`t know for sure, as well as it could only sell 20% more, that is because tie ratio of individual SW is nowhere linear. Now when talking about total sw it is more or less stable, you would have something between 10 to 12 game sold per HW (at least before digital became a thing, so with much cheaper digital games that average is likely to change, like PS4 seems to have passed PS2 SW with much less HW sold). The main reason why the tie ratio for individual SW is nowhere near linear is because the more a HW sells the more diverse the userbase is and the more likely for SW sales to spread out.
