These ~80:20 splits at retail have been a thing for years, long before AAA games were even thought to launch in Game Pass.

Also what rumors had RE8 as a Game Pass title? If anything people thought it couldn't be because it was before launch that the news Sony BLOCKED the game from being a GP title came out https://gamerant.com/resident-evil-village-xbox-game-pass-sony-deal/

It's also interesting how at retail the splits go 80:20, but when digital is added the splits swing towards Xbox. Do you believe every single Japanese game just magically sells more on Xbox after week 1?

Does this make sense to you, because you are arguing for this to be the case in order for digital to have no impact on the splits.

Week 1 - ~50K
PS: 40K
XB: 10K

Week 2 - ~20K
PS: 9K
XB: 11K

Week 3 - ~8K
PS: 3K
XB: 5K

Week 4 - ~5K
PS: 2K
XB: 3K

When has that ever happened.

Never. Digital is simply much higher on Xbox, by +10-20 points.

The “rumour” about Sony blocking RE8 not to being on Gamepass is false and out of proportion. The only deal that Sony makes with the third parties (MS aswell), is to receive the best experience possible if the system allows it.

Also, is there any confirmation that digital sales are higher on Xbox than PS systems? The only article “confirming” this dates from 2019, when the digital sales on PS consoles were way lower than the physical counter part. But the trend changed drastically in 2020 and intensified in 2021.

The point is that the only thing regarding RE8 being on Game Pass that got traction was that it couldn't be. There was nothing indicating it would be on Game Pass.

RE8 split shifting from 80:20 retail only to 65:35 with digital added is the most recent confirmation. Xbox would benefit just as much, if not more than PS when it comes to increasing digital share since 2019 considering the Xbox One SAD was a big seller in holiday 2019 and Series S is generally a higher percentage of XBS sales compared to the DE and PS5.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287
