The NES.

3 Mario games:
Super Mario Bros - Revived console gaming from the dead
Super Mario Bros 2
Super Mario Bros 3 - Mario 1 was considered a phenomenal game, and yet this blew it out of the water in every way.

2 Zelda games:
The Legend of Zelda - Most popular Zelda in Japan or Japan+NA until BotW.  This game killed off the arcades.  It's also my personal favorite.
Zelda 2 - An amazing action game that was sold out for months when it first released.

Tetris - The best selling game of all time.

Duck Hunt - Created the light gun genre.
Hogan's Alley

Solid arcade ports:
Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, Popeye, Mario Bros, Kung Fu

Metroid - Still the best selling version in the series

Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! - I can't even describe how great it is to be able to fight Iron Mike Tyson.  He even knocks me down with one hit just like the real Mike Tyson would if I fought him in RL.  All of the other fighters have memorable personalities too.

Other classics:
Kid Icarus
Ice Hockey
Dr Mario
Star Tropics 1&2

That is an unbeatable first party line-up.  No other console has ever come close, Nintendo or otherwise.  I didn't even list all of Nintendo's first party games either.  That was part of the secret of the NES.  They simply made so many original games.  Not all of them were great, nor did they need to be.  They just needed to keep putting stuff out, and we would end up discovering what the real classics were.

I was going to disagree with you, but then you made such a solid argument that you manage to convince. Those were good days.
