Pristine, you are stating that not all people want games with goofy characters huh? I wander why almost all of the Wii's big guns are on their way to 6 mil. How many 360 and Ps3 games have made it?

360: 1
Ps3: None

Just cause a game has cartoon looking characters doesn't mean it won't have a lot of buyers. (which is why Ratchet and Clank series will always be one of my best vg series of all time.)

Its only natural that when clueless people like my mum walked into the store to buy the wii, she was told to buy SSBB and SMG when she asked for advise on games. People like her are really boosting the wii's sales. When nintendo's 1st party titles comprise over 90% of the good titles on the wii. With its hardware sales, its only natural that its 1st party software see 6 mil easily.

I never said people don't like cartoons I like cartoon characters. I just like REALISTIC character models. I love tales of the abyss (ps2). Its a cartoon  but it has REALISTIC character models not big head, small body and weird creatures. This is why FFIX ranks last in my list of FFs. I was just pointing out that people like me exist and did not wish to speak for everyone else. Hope this clarifies things.

For the record, I don't like ratchet and clank either but sony offers alternatives like uncharted while nintendo rarely ever does.

What about Zelda? Metroid? Fire Emblem? Eternal Darkness (second party release, same as Uncharted)? Even Disaster: Day of Crysis is being made by Nintendo and is far from cartoonie ... Nintendo does whore out Mario a bit much, but they do it because they have built a reputation over the years which allows people to trust games that have Mario in them; even the worst Mario games are bug free, polished and enjoyable to play.

One thing that people need to understand when they complain about the art style of a lot of Nintendo's games is that these characters were (often) born on the early arcade hardware, NES or SNES systems which the most attractive games were designed to look like cartoons; it is amazingly difficult to take a 16x16 sprite and make it look like something realistic. People still like Donkey Kong, Earthbound, Mario, Starfox, F-Zero, Metroid, and Kid Icarus and (while many can be translated into more realistic art styles) most are completely inappropriate to do in a realistic fashion.

fire emblem was the main reason I used the word "rarely". However, it hasn't been released on the wii. I find Link weird. I don't even know if he/she is male/female. COD4 is the only shooter-heavy game that I ever paid money for so metroid isn't my thing either even though I admit that Samus is actually cool I've never heard of Eternal Darkness or Disaster. It looks like Nintendo never hyped those.

I understand the mario nostalgia. Back in the snes era, I was a casual gamer who only played Killer Instinct and some mario here and there but the ps1 brought me true gaming bliss and I became hardcore. Kudos to those who still love mario but for me, I grew out of it. My fav games now are heavily story driven and mario falls terribly short (character aside).

However, I understand that nintendo won't drop the mario franchise as it makes no business sense. As a gamer, I as only asking for more games that fit my taste but they haven't been forthcoming from  nintendo. I'm especially worried that they may further focus on party-type games to appease casuals and make even more profit and sony and M$ may follow suit next gen.

Mods, please don't ban me. I had to respond to someone questioning my posts.

Back on point, congrats to the wii for doing what it does better than the rest of the competition and selling like ice cream in the summer!
