Haven't they used a different Zelda engine for every gen? >_> I don't see why they coudn't make a new one. Also, remember they said TP would be the "last Zelda of its kind." Who knows, they might innovate farther than youm might think and use a new engine would have to be used.

Well TP used the windwaker engine, so whatever they inovate I'm sure they could use it. Also when people want developers to make wii specific engines, those developers are usually using ps2 engines, or ports. TP used alot of what made/makes the wii and the gamecube strong. They should just tweak it to make use of what the wii has over the gamecube. So, yes they could make a new engine, but it wouldn't make sense because the Wii has an upgraded architecture to the gamecube, and compared to previous generations the wii isn't too much of an upgrade to the gamecube(even though it is one).

Umm...didn't they use a different engine for SNES Zeldas? If yes, you call the NES-SNES graphics transition big? If they've done it every gen...why not just make another one? I want my new cel-shaded (well...I hope the next one is :P) Zelda to use a different engine dammit. I also expect a new Zelda to look better than SMG - some "tweaked" TWW/TP engine won't cut it.

Yes considerabely, and they had more of a difference in arc

hitectures than the wii does with the GC. Also yes a tweaked Tp engine could produce graphics better than SMG, on upgraded hardware.

Here is a comparison between nes and snes.
